Just a few days after loosing a court case in which McDonald’s claim the owners of a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur called “McCurry” were infringing on their trademark (see previous post) McDonald’s became the target of a similar claim from a company called the Lion’s Tap.
The supposed practice of franchisors selling a franchise, even though they are reasonably certain that the franchise in question will not be able to survive, either because of the location, or perhaps because of the personal profiles of the person(s) who bought the franchise.
The interesting part is that these stores are owned and operated by Burger King, not the franchisee who has been operating about forty stores in Singapore since 1982.
This franchise, like so many other franchises, is so well run, that there is really nothing you can find to complain about and one day, if I am in the right city, the weather is good and there is an EagleRiders franchisee in town, I’m going to do it again.
